Originally constructed as a silent movie theater in 1912, after some years of decline the Mt Angel Theater was purchased in 1980 by Stu Rasmussen.
The multi-term Silverton mayor undertook a conversion to a live performance and video production studio over his forty years of stewardship.
At Stu's behest in 2022 Jon Deshler took over with the intent of managing this unique space as a sacred ARTS and culture resource for the surrounding rural communities on into the future.
The Saalfeld house is one of Mt. Angel's oldest houses and is the permanent home of Mt. Angel Historical Society. The house holds historical photos and documents for viewing by the public by appointment.
